Howdy y'aalll!
So it's been a l o n g time since I have blogged (mostly because of my busy schedule with school in the way), but I will never abandon writing my posts! As of now, with so much going on in my life, I really need to write all about it to express everything.
Going back onto the topic of my awesome journalist-type-interview-thingy, the deep, meaningful question of this "Finding Myself Through Others" series is:

Going back onto the topic of my awesome journalist-type-interview-thingy, the deep, meaningful question of this "Finding Myself Through Others" series is:
What drives you to pursue your goal?
I am a horribly confused teenager with no sense of direction in life, and if you are too, or someone in need of inspiration, I hope some of the responses below will spark more encouragement into your life. Living life is a struggle, I know, but through the darkest of times, even a little tiny bit of inspiration can aid you through your difficulty. Okay, okay, I'll stop with my cheesy philosophical idea and show you some of the responses I received (and some are deeeeeeep)!
Anjali Patel:
Honestly, I don't know ... that's a really hard question. Umm ... I would say I'm mostly driven by a chance to prove myself because honestly, like if I didn't have a reason to do something, then I wouldn't do it. What I mean is like with my parents coming from such a bad background, I wanna have a chance to prove myself to other people, that you know what, I'm more than what you think of me, you know? So, it kinda pushes me to do something and honestly, when someone tells me, "You can't that" because of this or this, excuse you. You don't tell me what to do. So, that really affects me.
Briana Torres:
What drives me to pursue my goal is thinking about the outcome. For example, if I want to see myself become a nurse, I would have to do well in school, so I work hard in school I push myself and ask questions. On the other hand, if I don't try in school or if I slack off academically, my future would go the other direction; the outcome will be just as much as my efforts. If I pay a dollar, I will receive something worth a dollar.
Paulyn Kwak:
Awwwww. *chuckle* don’t type it *chuckle.* Okay, well, I guess what motivates me is to push myself to, what’s that? *Laugh* reach for the stars so that most people won’t refer to me as average. I think it’s just to, so in the future when I look back, I won’t be known as “normal.” I want to be known as the person who shot for the stars and achieved her goals, who wanted more than just chilling and going with the flow. There’s that and also, the fact that many people, idk if they still do, but they look up to me. Idk if I like that reputation but I know I shouldn’t rely on people’s acceptance or their …. their ... judgment, but I push to be better for not just myself but for others; to prove that I’m not any less of what people think of me. I’m not just that “Asian” girl stereotype, I’m actually a person behind that image. I may fit those qualities, but that I am more ... you know what I mean? And then there’s also, ummm, I guess like thinking about the future as a whole. If I work hard now, then I in the future, I am able to do something I love and live a relaxed lifestyle knowing that my own family will be supported, and I could be a positive role model for my family and little cousins.
Uriel Hernandez:
To pursue my goals ... hmm ... umm ... maybe the most motivating factor for me would probably be myself. Maybe because, yeah we have our parents ... and our parents ... they can tell us things that are ... that sound good. And teachers, who are supposed to instruct us on things that are good... but really, if we're not taking it in for ourselves .... if we don't really .... we don't ... take it seriously, then what's the point of the teachers and the parents that are saying it? So I think that the most motivating factor would be myself.
Cathryn Newsom:
Probably to be able to do what I want and not what someone else wants to do. Do you know what I mean? And probably since no one in my family graduated from college, I want to be the first one to go.
Crystal Negrete:

Crystal Negrete:
Being able to be someone important. I guess it makes me feel accomplished to do something to contribute to people’s lives.
Nourhan Nawara:
Legitimately, I have three very important reasons that are in order of most relevance to me. First and most crucial of all, I love medicine. I believe that to enjoy the most out of life, you have to pursue something that pertains to your passion. It is as if you are throwing your heart and joy away if you pursue an occupation that you detest. Second, I was not forced to pursue my goal. My family did not make me choose one field and stick to that my whole life. In fact, it is the opposite. I am the one so hung up on this particular thing and my family tried to dissuade me to ensure that I truly want it. If you are going to work in a field that you hate for your family because they refuse to honour you, it is not worth your sadness. I know that they do it out of love and security, but please look twice before jumping in. This is a very serious decision. Lastly, experience is the best teacher. To really know if you love something, experiment with it before it becomes official. I honestly did not know I loved medicine that much before I volunteered at a hospital. Additionally, I cannot stand it when someone is hurt or in pain for any reason. I always want to help. For that reason, I decided to start early. I even have a first aid kit; it is a bit small, in my bag.
Jasmin Pinon:
My parents didn't originally come from the United States and they constantly told me stories about their journey and how hard it was and the sacrifices they made and the people they left. So as they told me this, I realized how hard they worked to ensure that I have a better future and that I do okay at life; I don't have to deal with the things they had to deal with during their childhood. I want to do good at school and get straight A's and get into a good school to let them know that everything they did would actually become worth something.
Gloria Jozwicki:
Questioning my purpose in this world drives me to pursue my goals. I believe that everyone has a purpose in this world and that we weren't put here to not serve a purpose. This one life that I am given is the only thing that I know of right now, so seeing how quickly it can be taken away from me enables me to take advantage of every opportunity that I am given. These many opportunities that I am given also drives me to want to help those who do not have as many opportunities. Overall, knowing that life is short and knowing that I have the ability to help those in need drives me to pursue my goals.
Matthew Wong:
My disgust of cilantro drives me to wake up in the morning because if I don't work someday, some food will contain cilantro and I will f*king die and commit seppuku on the spot.
*Special shoutout to everyone who participated! Thank you for your insightful responses and time. Stay tuned for the next interviews :)!
